3 really useful expat podcasts to warm up for the Immigrant Heritage Month 2021
Expat friends, today we’re unfolding 3 expat podcasts to start the Immigrant Heritage Month 2021. Or at least to warm up for what’s next all around the country and the online life! #IAmImmigrant and #CelebrateImmigrants month. And whether you’re a first, second, or third-generation expatriate, let’s face it, your heritage is a strong and exotic aspect of your CV.
And podcasts come in handy. Most useful while cooking or waiting. So, long story short, here’s what captured our attention when it comes to podcasts, whether audio monologues (as if someone would read to you an article) or interviews, which to be honest are our favorite.
1. Mindful Expat
Let’s start the Immigrant Heritage Month 2021 with this one, Mindful Expat, a weekly podcast. Expect a monologue, or the approach of a psychologist. It’s not that we would make a habit like morning coffee to listen to the Mindful Expat podcast, buuut, from time to time it’s a cool introspective challenge. Especially that it is run by psychologist and expat counselor, Dana Nelson, Ph.D. and thus designed for those living abroad. So, as you can imagine, it provides you with guideposts for emotional wellbeing and resilience in your international life. Also, a nice touch they have is that also focus on making the best of your inner and outer journeys. So, definitely a constructive tone, an optimistic vibe, and pragmatic solutions. And that is what we need especially in moments of doubt. Right?
You can choose the expat challenge or opportunity (aka topic). Plus, there’s also the website behind this counseling routine www.mindfulexpat.com).
2. Aussie Expat Podcast
Ready for an Aussie expat podcast? Well, you don’t need to be an Australians abroad, because you’ll satisfy your curiosity about diaspora truth and realities, as well as the USA impact on them. What we love most about it is the inteview format. And the accent :) . Very humble and nuanced. Pros and cons well raised, highly informative. Yet, accessible to anyone in the diaspora.
3. The Bittersweet Life with Tiffany Parks
Most of all, imagine the possibilities for your own life (and meet some famous authors along the way). (
Tiffany Parks’s & her guests’ PODCAST. They reached episode 487 in 2021.
Oh, she’s an expat herself, living in Italy, born in the USA, and the podcasts are designed to serve the diaspora mainly, but also open up the terrotories to those who are not / not yet expatriates.
What we love about this podcast:
- Great voice, everyday guests, interventions and interviews
- The talk is very easy going.
- Mrs. Parks starts from hot articles. So she basically picks up her topics from media or street and deconstructs the viewpoint.
- It is informative, and offers multiple points of view
- Very dynamic (guests), and definitely NOT boring.
- FREE as the rest in the list, of course.
- Social & cultural focus.
- Ethnic-wide.
So, here’s an example where she debates “labels” so authentically and naturally, fun and interesting.
Before we forget, EXPAT PROMOS are ON

And yes, it’s natural to get sensitive about “home” when we hear “diaspora”, “expatriate” “distance”, “apart”. Because there’s a personal story popping up for each of us. But even if the story is different, what we have in common is helping the family back home. That’s why we brought up the international top up offers.
